The Thina Sinako Provicial LED Support Programme is actively supporting the entrenchment of innovation and knowledge management within the provincial government system. This includes the organisation of LED Learning Encounters that draw on experiences within and outside the Programme, and that feed into the improvement of LED practice in the Province and nationally. Amongst other things, the outcomes of the LED Learning Encounters feed into Provincial LED Conferences during which variou aspects of LED and LED support are examined.
LED Learning Encounters took place in 2007 and 2008, with further Encounters scheduled for 2009 and 2010. Topics covered so far include Finance for Enterprises and LED, Municipalities and LED, Partnerships for LED, Cooperatives, Aquaculture, Forestry, Participatory Planning, Community Investment Funding Models, Sustainable Village Economies, and Strengthening the Microfinance Sector in the Eastern Cape.
Two Provincial LED Conferences have been held to date, one in 2007 and one in early 2009. A third conference will be held in late 2009 or early 2010, and will showcase a wide range of LED initiatives within the Eastern Cape.
