Final year of operational implementation phase

This year, 2011, is the final year of the EU-funded Thina Sinako Provincial LED Support Programme's operational implementation phase. This means that this is the last year during which initiatives that have received grant funding through this Programme (and that have not reached the end of their contract implementation periods) can commit that funding. The Programme Coordination Unit (PCU), which has been supporting the implementation of this Programme, is also winding down, and will be phased out at the end of 2011. Support to the final winding down of projects is being provided by District Support Teams, backed up by two Implementation Support Advisors in the Thina Sinako PCU, and by the PCU's Finance and Contracts Unit, which is based in the Eastern Cape Provincial Treasury. The latter, as Contracting Authority for this Programme, is the contracting party in all grant contracts, and will be responsible for the final winding up of projects, some of which will require final grant transfers in 2012, based on their approved final progress reports.
