Third Provincial LED Conference
Posted: 01 October 2010 | Source: PCUThe Third Provincial Local Economic Developmen (LED) Conference will be held on 13-14 October 2010 in the International Convention Centre in East London and is open to the public. This conference will provide a platform for the sharing of lessons emerging from Eastern Cape initiatives financed through the Thina Sinako Provincial LED Support Programme. Case studies will be presented in both seminar and exhibition format to allow optimal opportunities for interaction between participants and the public.
The programme includes case studies on:
- Forestry: forestry development initiatives in Ukhahlamba (Joe Gqabi), Ntabankulu and Mt Frere.
- Resource management: commonage management, conservation & development, composting, and waste recycling initiatives.
- Textiles: networked garment enterprise in OR Tambo.
- Tourism: hiking trail, mountain bike trail, edutourism initiative, and tourism route.
- Agriculture: Integrated Village Renewal Programme, development initiatives in Cata, berry production, and up-scaling of the Fort Hare Pilot Ilima Agri-Park Model.
