Evaluation of first calls for proposals

Following the closure of the first call for proposals to the Financial Innovation Fund (Window 2), we now have four grant fund evaluation processes underway. The process of evaluating proposals submitted during the first call for proposals to the Local Government Support Fund have already passed the first two steps of the 4-step evaluation process. The process of evaluating proposals received during the first calls for proposals to the Local Competitiveness Fund (LCF: CAP Identification & Design and LCF: Fast Track Project Implementation) is still in the beginning stages, whereas the proces for the Financial Innovation Fund (Window 2) is about to start.
The 4-step evaluation process is undertaken by an evaluation committee supported by technical assessors and our Finance & Contracts Unit. Each step has to be signed off by the Provincial Treasury and approved by the Delegation of the European Commission to South Africa. The procedures that are followed are those of the European Commission, as described in the Practical Guide to contract procedures for European Commission external actions.
We are endeavouring to process all of these applications as quickly as is possible, while ensuring that we maintain a transparent and fair process.
